1985 Macys Windows

I was always looking for ways to promote my shows in the East Village. On one occasion I took a large painting to Soho, leaned it up against a wall on West Broadway and passed out invitations to my show across town. I met one of my biggest collectors that day.

Another time, I was walking down 34th Street and passed Macys windows and thought “Why not hang my paintings in the windows with the mannequins?” So I found out who did the windows and brought her a binder with my slides. She responded more to my charcoal drawings than the paintings, and asked if I could do them 4 and 6 foot lengths?

A month or two later, they were hanging all along 34th. You can see photos in projects.
