1996 Paintings
I always paint in series. Back in the day, I was always painting for shows, usually consisting of 20 or 30 paintings. Sometimes I would revisit images that I have painted in the past, but I would always do them in a different size and usually (as time would pass and I paint differently over time) they would be painted in a different style. Below you can find two different versions of five different images. The larger painting is 29” x 42”, the smaller is 10” x 16”. I will be going back and adding titles and dimensions where available, but for now, one way to determine size is the thickness of the lattice frame in the photo. They are all framed with the same lattice. The small paintings, which are also quicker paintings, more impressionistic paintings - the lattice appears thick. Revisiting past images is like hanging out with old friends. Sometimes I’d go that way just to be comforted. Painting can be a lonely activity.
