Day Thirty Five

So I made a new sign and debuted it in Montclair on Mother’s Day.

Clarence kindly agreed to take photos, and so I took the camera home afterwards and looked at the images on my computer screen.

One of the first things I noticed was the blank side of my sign.

Seeing as how I spend most all of my time out there marching up and down the streets - that’s valuable advertising real estate I have there.

I could double my messaging just by using both sides.

What’s more thought I,

I could use it to advertise my website which is chock-full of all that I would really like to say to everyone, everywhere.

I always accept that there is reason for everything.

I think,

had I initially shown up with a sign advertising my website,

I think people would have seen me differently.

They might of been more inclined to see me as working some kind of personal angle.

As it is,

thirty five days into my project,

people mostly know me as the RESIST! guy,

advertising nothing but the cause.

I think this is especially true among the Sunday at Three crowd where I went this day.

I’ve spent at least half of my project protesting with them.

I’m sure they know and hopefully respect me.

I kind of give it my all out there.

I had stopped going to this location mostly because the sidewalks had filled up to the point where there was no room to march around.

I’m just not one to stand still, shoulder to shoulder with a sign.

But now that it’s hot out, on sunny days the crowd gathers on the other side of the street, where it is shady.

I’m still not too crazy about the purpose being to get the cars to beep.

I just want to get the people in the cars to think, which is a quiet activity.

I spent twenty years living in Manhattan.

I don’t miss the horns.

Finally,

I’m loving the new design elements that comes with a different sign.

Just the new knots alone,

it’s a different world.

Doing, saying and experiencing something new.
