Day Thirty

Honestly speaking,

the artist / photographer in me was strongly motivated to come out for the change in visuals.

It had been coming down pretty good earlier in the day.

I thought the protesters would look great with the flakes in the air.

Still, clearly, it was a winter’s day.

In my previous post,

I mentioned that,

prior to this project,

I had intentionally kept photos of myself off of my website.

I spoke of one reason why.

Here is another:

I don’t want to be a celebrity.

These days,

we seem to have chosen package over substance.

Truth is:

Celebrities (or the people in commercials) always represent who we can never be.

They are always better looking,

much more wealthy,

and they are always smiling,

thrilled by their purchases.

This day,

this snowy day,

a small group of my fellow protesters were posing for a photo and invited me to be included.

I said no,

and then questioned myself all day,

but I’m sticking to it.

It wasn’t personal.

I don’t mind being photographed, doing what I do,

but I’m not posing.
