Day Nine

Photos by Fred

I wanted to try early, and catch the morning rush.

I got there around 6:30.

It was slow at first.

Big spaces between groups of cars.

The town was just waking up.

Lots of sanitation trucks and empty school buses.

It’s like,

I live here,

know this place,

have driven or rode my bike through it countless times,

but I’ve never been here this early in the morning on foot,

and then stayed around for the next two hours.

It was more a feeling of actually living or working here.

I mean,

I actually will be living here,

or at least spending a couple of hours here,

for another 91 days,

over the next 4 years.

That’s kind of like moving in.

There will be many changes of season.

It won’t just be about protesting.

I’ll probably get to know lots of people.

I’ll become a regular part of the scene,

part of the neighborhood.

I wonder what it will be like?
